The care of this exceptional park is entrusted to garden architect Katica Dražić, an expert with profound botanical knowledge and a delicate touch. A garden of this scale does not take shape overnight. It takes time, patience and a loving hand. Some trees have been our constant companions for decades, others give way to the passage of time and new plants take root – always in harmony with the climate, the soil and the seasons.

A particular highlight is the emerging camellia garden – a tribute to the emblematic flower of the Kvarner region. Beneath the shade of the pine trees and palm trees, beds of magnificent camellias are taking shape, requiring acidic, lime-poor soil, semi-shady spots and sheltered positions. With her expertise, Katica is creating a plant ensemble that harmoniously combines history, regionality and natural elegance.

Hand-picked in the large garden

At the same time, a Mediterranean herb garden is taking shape within the park. Head chef Danijel Lubjankić collects fresh herbs such as rosemary, bay leaves and many aromatic Mediterranean plants there every day to use in the dishes created in the Kvarner Palace kitchen and served to you at their very freshest. Guests who would like to delve deeper into the world of herbs can take part in workshops run by Ilonka Benedek – for a naturally enriching holiday experience.
